Managing Habitat For Amphibians and Reptiles

Saturday, April 15

How is a turtle or snake different from a scarlet tanager or white-tailed deer? Do these differences matter when it comes to habitat management on your land? You bet they do! Learn how and why with Dr. Rebecca Christoffel. Rebecca will give a presentation explaining how amphibians and reptiles differ from birds and mammals and the implications of these differences for your habitat management activities. She’ll introduce participants to some local reptiles, highlighting their natural history and conservation status in Wisconsin. Afterward, we’ll head out on a tour to view some of the habitat and its management for herpetofauna (amphibians and reptiles) at Nature’s Nook Retreat. Participants will also have the opportunity to partake in a field exercise to monitor amphibian and reptile populations.
